A training workshop on research ethics in the fields of social sciences and humanities held at Wolkite University
A two-day research ethics training which is organized by the 5S Foundation Ethiopia in collaboration with Wolkite University kicked off today at Wolkite. WKU became the first university to roll out the research ethics training to its academic staff and researchers drawn from neighboring Wachemo and Worabe universities. This workshop is made possible due to the financial assistance of National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) through BSMS and 5S Foundation. In his welcoming remark Dr. Teshome Yitbarek, Research Director of Wolkite University thanked the 5S Foundation project for sponsoring the training and underlined that such a kind of training would enable to ensure quality research in the social science disciplines. Garedew Yilma, project coordinator of the 5S Foundation Ethiopia project made an opening remark in the workshop. He mentioned that this training is one aspect of the south to south capacity building aspect of the 5S Foundation project. This capacity building workshop would give the opportunity to develop the capacity of researchers to consider ethical principles while conducting research. The mission, vision, aim and focus area of the 5S Foundation project was also presented for participants.
