Meeting with (CRTC-NTDs) at Arba Minch University Besides the Research Ethics Training, Professor Getnet Tadele, PI of the 5S Foundation Ethiopia, and Garedew Yilma, coordinator of the 5S Foundation Ethiopia visited Collaborative Research and Training Center for Neglected Tropical Diseases (CRTC-NTDs) at Arba Minch University on 24 June 2022. The 5S project team also made discussions with Mr. Tsegaye Yohanes, Director, CRTC-NTDs, and Mr. Chuchu Churko, a researcher at the CRTC-NTDs. During the meeting first Mr. Tsegaye warmly welcomed the 5S team and explained the NTDs center, its establishment, aim, mission, major accomplishments, experience and planned activities. Similarly, Prof. Getnet introduced the 5S project team members and role, aim, mission, focus areas of the project, and major activities conducted so far. Following the introduction, the two parties thoroughly discussed the major possible areas of collaboration where the 5S Foundation and CRTC-NTDs can work together. Among others, capacity-building activities (such as research ethics training), co-financing of workshops and training and other events, experience sharing, supporting outstanding MSc students’ fieldwork studies, visiting NTDs manuals, messaging guides and other documents from social science perspectives. These discussion points will lead to formal collaborative agreement by signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties. Finally, Mr. Tsegaye acknowledged the 5S team initiatives to work closely with the CRTC-NTDs and promised to discuss the issues with his colleagues and come up with some ideas.
