Capacity building for HEWs in household-health post referral linkage
In support of the 5S Ethiopia’s project aim to end neglect of two stigmatizing skin diseases (Podoconiosis and Scabies) , NaPAN in collaboration with the Amhara Regional Health Burea is providing a two days capacity building training to selected health extension workers (HEWs) in the five target districts of the region.
As part of this commitment, a two day training has been convened February 14-15, 2023 in Woreta town, South Gondar. A total of 43 HEWs received the training. The training consisted of the socio-economic consequence of both podoconiosis and scabies. The trainers from NaPAN and from the Region use a participatory approach to explain the burden, distribution and psychosocial issues associated with these stigmatizing diseases.
At the end of the training, the participants were evaluated for their knowledge comparing with the pre-training assessment take. Finally, they were made to set out actions for the next six months. The zonal and district focal persons appreciated the opportunity given to Dera district and demand for the scale up of such practical training to more endemic districts in their zone.
